What exactly is people operations consulting?

It is a structured way of helping business owners think through the human side of running their company — how to handle certain conversations, how to communicate changes to the team, how to approach an anniversary or a departure. It sits alongside, not instead of, legal or financial advice.

Is this the same as HR consulting?

Not quite. Traditional HR consulting typically covers employment law, compliance, and policy. Saltmark focuses on the conversational and operational side — helping owners prepare for and handle the human moments that HR policy alone does not address.

How long does each engagement take?

The Owner-Manager Strategy Conversation is a single half-day. The Co-Founder engagement spans the weeks immediately around the departure. The Long-Service Series runs across twelve months with three conversations. All engagements have a clear endpoint.

What size of business is a good fit?

Typically owner-managed businesses with between ten and eighty people. Small enough that the owner still carries most decisions about their people, large enough that those decisions have real consequences for the team.

Are the fees fixed or is there a discovery call first?

The fees shown are the fees for each engagement. There is a short initial call — no charge — to confirm that the engagement is the right fit for what you are facing. If it is not, we will say so plainly.

Is what I share kept private?

Yes. Everything shared in an engagement is treated as confidential. We do not discuss your business, your team, or your situation outside of the work itself. A simple confidentiality agreement is included in every engagement.
